“Metro magazine published an article by investigative journalist Jon Stephenson which claims New Zealand’s Special Air Service was involved in taking prisoners, despite Prime Minister John Key’s assurances New Zealand forces did not take prisoners. The article claims Key made the assurance based on advice from the then head of the New Zealand Defence Force Jerry Mateparae. ‘The Key Government’s claims – based on advice from Lt.
