Global earthquakes not linked says “John Townend, a seismologist at Victoria University,” on state broadcaster Radio New Zealand National 13/4/2012, about recent “triggered earthquakes” near Aceh, Indonesia – but of no bearing in Christchurch, New Zealand: “No.. what we are seeing is just the regular month to month level of earthquake activity around the world.. in New Zealand.. we are [just] particularly attuned to earthquakes at the moment” – such that the 12/4/2012 offshore Christchurch magnitude 4.6 aftershock, fifteen hours after the Indonesia 8.6, was not triggered too? … ???

BULL SHIT !

These charts clearly show the distant energy impact upon our – highly destabilised and currently fluid – local fault system. An imminent effect was entirely predictable, but the state authorities are in complete denial. ‘What we don’t know can’t hurt us’, they would have us believe. The primary role of the state is to keep its citizens safe; the New Zealand state is failing badly at this.

By basic study of the geological dynamics behind the 4 September 2010, 7.1 Canterbury earthquake, it was very easy to discern that another serious shock would soon follow. But what did local and central government do to protect people here? – Absolutely nothing! – On 22 February 2011, 185 died. Shame on this Government and its local lackeys! Shame on them.

Now there is a new enquiry starting into the shocking neglect of community preparedness here: Fire Service’s quake response to be independently reviewed “The Fire Service has confirmed an independent review will take place into its immediate response to the Christchurch Earthquake, following criticism from its staff. In August last year, an internal review found that the national deployment and response went well, and that many front line staff put their lives at risk to save others. However, it found there was disconnect between management and staff, and a lack of planning after the February quake that killed 185 people. The Fire Service says it has since implemented about half of the 42 recommendations in that review. One firefighter, Darren Aitken, has said fire staff in the central business district were barely able to help because their managers had limited their actions” RadioNZ 15/4/2012 + Fire service launch quake inquiry TVNZ story from The Longest Night Sunday feature research.

Public showers close down “Public showers set up in Christchurch’s eastern suburbs for earthquake victims are closing down because they are now mainly used by people ‘that may be homeless’.. ‘vulnerable people’ using the showers were being referred to welfare agencies like the Salvation Army and the Christchurch City Mission” The Press 02/04/2012

Govt could help ease rental crisis – Christchurch mayor “the council approached the Government a year ago about building extra accommodation to prevent rents getting out of control. It is predicted rents will be pushed even higher, with 24,000 tradespeople due to arrive in the city for the rebuild” RadioNZ + Chch leaders at loggerheads over city’s state “’Is it a crisis or not?’ asks Mr Parker. ‘I think it’s a very difficult situation and I think there are a number of people who are in what they would describe as an absolute crisis.’ That’s in stark contrast to Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee who has been saying for days there is no housing crisis” 3News 14 Apr 2012

Extraordinary earthquakes in the Indian Ocean offshore of Aceh, 11-April-2012 “..new evidence that this strain is reactivating a system of faults on the deep seafloor.. The largest strike-slip earthquake ever recorded?.. Earthquakes come in cycles; the modern cycle is not finished yet..” Earth Observatory of Singapore : Research on Volcano, Earthquake, Tsunami and Climate Change Science

The Earth is warming, accelerating ground movement through crustal expansion, but capitalist governments strip science assets and disable human knowledge to profit from hiding their super-destructive effects – drilling, mining and burning ever more of the problem cause instead, and ignorantly and callously refusing to join the dots or be accountable.

M 7.8, Dusky Sound, July 15 2009 earthquake in Fiordland was New Zealand’s largest for nearly 80 years, and moved the southwest South Island tip a full 30 centimetres westward / Earthquake brings New Zealand closer to Australia “the changes showed the immensity of the forces involved” – this lateral force is the ongoing cause of the Canterbury earthquakes, and no one else is explaining this or integrating the implications of increased tectonic movement! New Zealand earthquakes are multiplying in the 21st century, which synchronises tightly with the global warming trend built on the increasing greenhouse gas emission and aquifer depletion caused by dairy farm intensification here – Historic Earthquakes:

M 6.3, Christchurch, February 22 2011 The city of Christchurch experienced a major earthquake centred south of the city; severe damage and casualties occurred.
M 7.1, Darfield (Canterbury), September 4 2010 This earthquake caused severe building damage in mid-Canterbury, particularly to the city of Christchurch.
M 7.8, Dusky Sound, July 15 2009 This earthquake in Fiordland was New Zealand’s largest for nearly 80 years.
M 6.8, Gisborne, December 20 2007 This offshore event caused buildings to collapse in the Gisborne CBD.
M 6.7, George Sound, October 16 2007 Fiordland was shaken once again by a large earthquake centred off the coast of the South Island.
M 5.4, Lake Rotoma, July 18 2004 This earthquake shook up the Bay of Plenty area in July 2004.
M 7.2, Fiordland, August 22 2003 This severe earthquake generated over 200 landslides and several small-scale tsunami on the South Island’s west coast.

Of course the thieves’ government don’t want you understanding or prepared for this disaster escalation – they’d rather make you malleable victims supplying equity to their takeovers.
